Welcome to the new home page of Tallahassee Mensa!
Tallahassee Mensa a local chapter of the High IQ Society, American Mensa. The Tallahassee
area serves Florida from the Apalachicola River east through Taylor County including part of
Madison County and even a bit of Dixie County. Our area is also the only area in all of Florida,
Region 10 of American Mensa, to include a portion of Georgia. For a full view of the area we

Interested in joining Mensa? The only qualification for membership is a score at or above the
98th percentile on an approved IQ test. There are two different ways you can join. One is by
submitting evidence of scores from any of a number of approved intelligence tests that you have
already taken, or you can take the Mensa Admission Test. For more information about qualifying

Hi Everybody!
I am so thrilled about the testing session we had in May, and the one we'll have this month --
it's really fun to see people excited about possibly qualifying for and joining Mensa: they've
got energy and enthusiasm and curiosity, and even those who are confident of their intelligence
are still a bit diffident about actually taking the exam. I just think that's cute, especially
since I remember feeling exactly the same way, and being so RELIEVED when I finally got my
qualifying letter.
One of the ways to liven up membership is to really encourage those new people to get
involved as soon as they join -- and to have lots of things for them to participate in. And
we're working on that.
But we do not, by any means, want to neglect those members who have been around a long time,
even those who don't necessarily come to events. If you read the activity write-ups, you'll see
a lot of me encouraging you all to come out to events, to submit your ideas, to contact the
Excomm and just generally get involved.
It's easy to get into the habit, though, of not being involved. I know, because that was me
for many years. And if that's what you want, that's totally fine -- Mensa should be what you
want it to be, whatever that is. But if you hold a secret desire to be more involved, and we
just haven't found the magic button yet to switch you into gear, FEAR NOT. We're going to keep
trying.
And in the meantime, if you're thinking you want to come to something but you're shy or
uneasy for any reason, just give me a call -- I'll find a way to convince you that we're pretty
friendly folk who WANT you with us.
