Tallahassee Mensa - Calendar of Events
July 12
Games Night
6:00 - Whenever I kick you all out
Debi's apartment (580-2301 for directions)
Refreshments ($1 kitty)
What's your bag? Scrabble? Apples to Apples? Cranium? Monopoly? In-depth strategy games? Charades?
Puzzles? We've got all this and more, and potato chips and dip besides! If you have a game you'd like
to play but aren't sure if I have it, go ahead and bring it. Come join us and be a part of making Games
Night a tradition for Tallahassee Area Mensa. :-)
July 16
Pig*Sig
6:30 - whenever
Golden Corral, located at 1630 N. Monroe Street, in Tallahassee, 850-24-4363.
Visit their web site at: http://www.goldencorral.com/ for
menu, nutritional information, and other fun facts to know and tell.
Mom & Dad's was deee-LISH, and the company was outstanding -- we even had one of our prospective members
(now a full member: Hi Sam!!). We were having such a great time that the waiter asked how to get into
Mensa -- does it get any groovier than that? I dunno. The night at On the Border was terrific as well,
and we had a great crowd. Lots of laughs, lots of good conversation, lots of multiple conversations!
So come on down to the Golden Corral and join us!
July 26
Testing Day for Tallahassee Area Mensa
2:00 - 4:00 PM
Unitarian Universalist Church of Tallahassee
2810 N. Meridian Road
385-5115 (during business hours, for directions)
Our May testing session was such a success that we decided to do it again!
Do you know anybody who's Mensa material, but who hasn't joined yet? They can, of course, get in based
on prior evidence, but it can be time-consuming and difficult to find that evidence. Testing is a
viable alternative, and those who take the test generally self-select, meaning that around 70% of those
who take it end up qualifying for membership!
The really cool thing about referring your friends to Mensa is that when friends join, it increases the
core of people who know and enjoy each other -- and that's the glue that holds an organization like
this together.
July 26
Crafts Evening
5:00 - Whenever I kick everybody out
Debi's apartment (580-2301 for directions)
Refreshments ($1 kitty)
And after the testing session is over, we'll head right on back to my place for a night full of crafting
-- there are dolls to make and wood to paint and stitches to cross and quilts to patch and collages to
design and an infinite variety of other projects we can work on, as a group or just companionably
together. What do you do to beautify your life? Come share it with us! :-)
August 9
Games Night
6:00 - Whenever I kick you all out
Debi's apartment (580-2301 for directions)
Refreshments ($1 kitty)
Games Night is growing -- but there's always room for you!
August 20
PigSig
6:30 - whenever
Crystal River Seafood
2721 N Monroe St, Tallahassee - (850) 383-1530
On the Border was good fun and great Mexican food -- this month, we're going undersea. Do you like
lobster? Salmon? Or heck - chicken? Come join us on the 3rd Wednesday!
Did you know that the locations for upcoming PigSigs are decided on the night of PigSig? Somebody
shouts out a restaurant, and we Yay or Nay them -- it usually doesn't even come to blows! If you know
of a great restaurant you think we should try out, come on down and let us know -- we won't bite, and
we may just clap you on the back for suggesting something none of us knew about! :-)
August 23
Crafts Evening
4:30 - Whenever I kick everybody out
Debi's apartment (580-2301 for directions)
Refreshments ($1 kitty)
We'll start crafts a little earlier tonight, so I can politely scoot everybody home earlier, to get
ready for our trip to Ichetucknee the very next day! Let me know if there's something you've been
dying to learn how to do -- I might not know how to do it, but what fun for us to learn together!
August 24
-RSVP BY AUGUST 21- (850-273-2183)
Annual caravan to Ichetucknee
8:30 AM -- whenever
Meet at the Best Buy parking lot, on Appalachee Pkwy & Magnolia
Gas, parking, tube rental (variable, but $20 should cover everything and more)
It's time for our annual tubing trip, and I am not exaggerating when I say this is the event of
the year. If you haven't come to anything else this year, but you resolved in January to try one
thing, this is the one you should try. Or even, you know, if you didn't have that resolution. Or
even if you've already been to several activities.
It's going to be that great.
Happy Birthday to our members who have July birthdays

that you're a card-carrying Smart Person? Is it the raw egg you swallow each morning for breakfast?
Let us know what Mensa means to you, why you joined, and why you stay! :-)

Welcome July's New Members!
We are so glad to have you on board! Please don't hesitate to jump right in to activities -- or if you
have ideas about things you'd like to do that you don't see in our calendar, let one of the ExComm know,
and we'll work on getting it incorporated. Welcome to Tallahassee Area Mensa!
